Personal Injury Attorney James Heiting Appointed to Chair ABA Substance Use Disorders Advisory Board

19-June-2013Personal injury attorney James Heiting, managing partner of Heiting & Irwin Attorneys At Law in Riverside, California, has been appointed to chair the American Bar Association’s Substance Use Disorders Advisory Board for the 2013-2014 session.

The ABA Chair of the Health Law Section, in notifying Heiting of the appointment, indicated “leadership appointments within the ABA Health Law Section are recognition of one’s abilities, dedication, and demonstrated commitment to the mission of the Section. Our success is due to the superb quality of our exceptional leaders.”

Heiting is the former President of the State Bar of California and former West Coast Commissioner for the Commission on Lawyer Assistance Programs.

An experienced personal injury attorney, Heiting handles civil litigation matters throughout California, recovering over $100 million for clients and handling wrongful death, serious injury, professional malpractice, and transportation cases.

Heiting has also served on the Board of Governors of the State Bar of California, was a co-founder of the Leo A. Deegan Inn of Court, which trains younger or less experienced members of the bar, and is a charter member of the Inland Empire Federal Bar Association.

He was president of the Other Bar (a statewide organization of judges and lawyers helping other lawyers and judges) from 1991-1993 and a board member from 1988-2003 and again since 2006.

James Heiting has served in a variety of roles in Superior Court and the Federal District Court. He is also highly sought after as a privately requested and court appointed arbitrator and mediator in state courts and the California Court of Appeal.
