Summer’s Not Over Yet—Check Out these Fun Events in Riverside
The days are only getting hotter, and the kids are once again gearing up for another school year. But before you dust off the backpacks and lunch boxes, there’s still plenty of summer fun left in Riverside, California. Here at Heiting & Irwin, we like to relax with our families at Riverside’s Fairmount Park. Whether you’re looking to spend the day cooling off at the pool or basking the August heat with a picnic, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Fairmount Summer Concert Series
Location: Fairmount Park

Don’t miss the last concert in the summer series featuring the Original Sacrifice Band. Bring your chairs, blankets, and snacks for this free event at the park.
Free Movie Night at the CAF Hangar
Location: CAF Hangar, Riverside Municipal Airport
Date: Friday, August 14
Time: 6:00-9:00 P.M. (movie starts at 7:00 P.M.)
Hosted by the Inland Empire Wing Commemorative Air Force, this month’s free movie showing is “Planes: Fire and Rescue” starring Dane Cook as Dusty Crophopper. The movie and popcorn are free. Additional snacks including hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, chips, candy, ice cream soda, water, and coffee are available for a donation.
Bark For Life of Riverside
Location: Immanuel Lutheran Church
Date: Saturday, August 22
Time: 5:00-9:00 P.M.
Finish the summer strong by fighting back against cancer. Bark For Life is a noncompetitive walking event for dogs and their owners to raise money and awareness for fighting cancer. The $15 cost for the first dog and $10 cost for additional dogs helps the American Cancer Society save lives. A Bark for Life bandana and goodie bag are included in registration. This event will have food, music, activities, and games for the whole family.

Riverside Metropolitan Museum
Home to over 100,000 artifacts, the Riverside Metropolitan Museum’s permanent and special exhibitions are on display for the public free of charge. Here, you can explore the cultural history of our region, bring your child to a Discovery Day on the third Wednesday of the month, or browse the gift shop.
Riverside Art Museum
On Saturdays through August 22, the Riverside Art Museum is opening its doors for free this summer from noon to 3:00 P.M. in conjunction with the Riverside Art Make. See the schedule for different maker workshops. The work of sculptor Lois Sloan is also on display through August 21.
UC Riverside California Museum of Photography
The UCR/CMP collection is the largest and most comprehensive center of photography in the west. The museum has hosted the work of Ansel Adams, Dorothea Lange, and other famous photographers.
